30 years of protecting Blue Cranes.
Let’s make it 30 more.
For the past three decades, we’ve worked to address the many threats to our Blue Crane populations in the Overberg. From poisoning incidents, to powerline collisions, and research to action, the OCG has led Blue Crane conservation in the Overberg.
Support the Overberg Crane Group, and help to protect Blue Cranes and other threatened bird species such as Black Harrier, Denham’s Bustard and Southern Black Korhaan. Your donation makes a difference.
Help us protect our Overberg bird species – BY LEARNING ABOUT THEM.
We’re raising funds to support research into little understood Overberg bird species – species facing extreme threats. The research, done with partners, will guide area-wide actions to protect these species.
Get involved, by donating to research projects (every cent helps).
This support will help us:
- Assess species population dynamics
- Determine their habitat of choice
- Log their food sources and its sustainability
- Understand breeding habits and threats
- Develop research based recommendations for their survival
- And much more.
The Overberg Crane Group has teamed up with Bionerds to find out more about this enigmatic species in the Agulhas Plain.
The African Grass Owl population has fallen by 30% across South Africa. Why? And how can we rectify this?
In order to answer these questions, research is vital. The OCG is funding this Bionerds research project (with the Fynbos Trust and Bionerds). The aim? To address the lack of knowledge regarding this Vulnerable species, its ecology, population size and conservation threats.
NEW RESEARCH PROJECTS:
The OCG has 3 more projects lined up with partners:
OR CHOOSE YOUR OWN AMOUNT:
- What’s happening to our Hottentot Buttonquails?
- How can we reduce threats to Black Harrier breeding sites?
- Southern Black Korhaan: Disappearing from our landscapes
Help us learn more about these, and other threatened bird species in the Overberg, by supporting vital research. Get involved, by donating now.
With your help, we’re looking to raise R20,000 per research project.
